Tom Pugh
Coach Tom Pugh played football at Morristown High School and Carson Newman College. He coached for 26 years, including 8 years at Dobyns-Bennett (3 years as head coach), 10 years at Sullivan Central as head coach, and 2 years at ETSU as Defensive Line Coach. At D-B, Pugh had a record of 40-4-4 and a State Championship. Pugh was selected East TN Coach of the Year and was twice named Conference Coach of the Year. He was inducted into Morristown Sports Hall of Fame and Alumni Hall of Fame. Pugh won the National Football Foundation - Mountain Empire Coach's Award in 2016. Pugh organized and managed the FCA chapter at Central. Pugh was an active member of the Mountain Empire Chapter of the National Football Foundation, and in his church. He was Gideon volunteer. Pugh was a gentleman, coach, outstanding trainer, and exceptional motivator. Coach Pugh was active until his death in December 2021 at the age of 90. |
