Shelby Miller
Shelby Miller has been a TSSAA football official for 55 years (since 1965). Miller has been selected to work the football playoffs for 43 plus consecutive years, working first round games, several second round, quarterfinal, semifinal games and officiated in 5 state football championships; 1985, 1992, 1995, 2008, and 2019. Miller was the recipient of the TSSAA A. F. Bridges Award as an official in basketball and football in 2004; was inducted into the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame in 2016; and the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2019. He was presented the James Cradic Memorial Award and installed into the National Football Foundation Mountain Empire Chapter Hall of Fame in 2017. Miller is an Eagle Scout, past president of the Elizabethton Lions Club, past president of the Elizabethton Shrine Club, past board member of the Elizabethton Carter County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Gideon's International. Shelby was elected to the Elizabethton City Council for two terms and served from 1987 to 1993. |
