Mike Lunsford
Coach Mike Lunsford retired from coaching football at the conclusion of the 2018 season as the most tenured coach in the area. Lunsford was on the sidelines for 25 years - 18 at Cloudland & 7 at Hampton. In his 25 years, he totaled 223 wins with a winning percentage of over 77%. Coach Lunsford had a career record of 223-66, which was the 3rd best in Northeast Tennessee. His conference winning percentage was over 91%. He had 23 winning seasons - 6 of them undefeated; 24 playoff berths; and his teams advanced to the State Championship Game once. Lunsford was a class act on the sidelines and was always respectful of his players and game officials. He is highly respected as a teacher, coach, and community role model. Lunsford coached the Tennessee team in the TN/VA FCA Bowl Game most every year. He was a loyal supporter of the National Football Foundation and readily submitted a player for consideration for Mountain Empire scholar-athlete awards ceremony. |
